The "G" Stands for Game-Changer
Because that’s precisely what the G-Point Lift is – a game-changer for turning back the clock under and around the delicate eye area and pressing “pause” on the ageing process, too. Want to know more? Keep reading. We’re bringing you everything you need to know about this anti-ageing prejuvenation treatment, which warrants a closer look before you find yourself Googling “festoons”.
As we age, it’s important to maintain the integrity of the lower eyelid and prevent the signs of shrinkage around the eyes. The orbicularis (eye muscle) degenerates and weakens with time, pulling the eyelid skin down and prompting the arrival of festoons—pouches, swelling, and/or creases of skin that form from below the lower eyelid to the upper cheekbone area.
What is a G-Point Lift?
The name reveals what it is and how it works—the G-point Lift. Simply put, it lifts the cheek and eyelid by injecting a filler at a strategic point called the G-point. This filler provides support and firmness, preventing attenuation and degeneration of the orbicular muscle as one age.
At Skin Renewal, we employ a combination of G Prime Filler (that lifts the lower eyelids and the cheeks while improving the appearance of tear troughs) and the CK3 MD Code (deep on the bone) to create central support and correct V-shaped deformity by restoring volume to the deep cheek fat pad and the banana fat pad under the eyes. It’s a painless 30-minute treatment with no downtime that achieves long-lasting results comparable to those of a traditional blepharoplasty.
The methodology, developed by the Oculoplastic Surgeon Francesco Bernardini, is based on an anatomical approach and works with a hyaluronic acid-based filler – injected into a precise aesthetic point – to not only fill a lack of volume but lift the tissues, too. “The complex anatomy of this area of the face, with the presence of ligaments firmly attached to the bone, also makes it very difficult to treat without resorting to invasive methods, such as traditional blepharoplasty,” explains Professor Bernardini.
Why is the Eye Area an Ageing Hotspot?
The area around the eyes is the first part of the face to show signs of ageing, so treatments to rejuvenate the eyes have always been among the most requested by patients. The key point where defects and loss of volume occur is what experts call the “eyelid-cheek junction,” which is the transition area between the lower eyelid and the cheek. This is where constitutional defects can be present—even at a young age—in the form of dark circles and increasingly lax skin.
Are You a Candidate for this Treatment?
We blink, on average, 22,000 times a day. And, like leather shoes worn for 20 years, our eye area will inevitably begin to reflect how “well worn” it is. The trick is to do something about the wrinkles and eye changes (for example, prolapsed fat bags) sooner rather than later. So, if you’re wondering if you’re old enough to book a G-Point Lift, the answer is probably “Yes!” Prevention is always better than cure. But, as always, with any potential change or addition to your skincare or aesthetics regime/programme, be sure to chat with your medically trained Skin Renewal therapist or Doctor first.
