Our first port of call? A fresh new face who’s officially dropped anchor at Skin Renewal Ballito…

We are incredibly excited to welcome Anudha Reddy to the Ballito team as our new Branch Manager. Having previously held the same role at Skin Renewal Illovo in Sandton, Jo’burg’s loss is most definitely our gain – and a homecoming for Anudha. The youngest of four children, she grew up in KZN with her bare feet in beach sand, her eyes on the ocean and her sights set on pursuing a career in a facet of the field of medicine, which has always fascinated her.
Because of her appreciation for skincare and aesthetics, and the opportunity to work with – and learn from – medical doctors , she decided to study Somatology, completing her national diploma at the Durban University of Technology in 2004. She worked at various practices for the next 6 years before the travel bug bit and she jumped on board (literally), taking up the positions of Aesthetician and Assistant Manager on cruise ships which honed her skills professionally and her character personally. It’s this nine-year rung on her career ladder that developed her deep appreciation for different demographics, culture and religions as she visited various countries and interacted with people from all walks of life.
We are honoured that Anudha decided to drop anchor with us, choosing Skin Renewal as the next adventure. Be sure to give her a warm welcome when you see her gorgeous, smiling face at our branch.
Because we know she has a bit of a sweet tooth, we recently surprised Dr Caitlin with a delicious (definitely-not-sugar-free) birthday cake and a bit of a sing song, which we all thoroughly enjoyed.

Our skin takes a beating in the heat of the Durban sun, leaving our skin with sunspots, age spots and uneven skin tone. Therapist Tasmin Leighton, “Taz” to us, highly recommends doing Limelight, which can be performed on any part of the body, to combat the unwanted effects of the sun.
What is Limelight?
Limelight is a pulsed light that heats up the pigmentation, bringing it to the surface layers of the skin which allows the pigmented skin cells to be sloughed off through the process of skin cell desquamation.
For best results Taz recommends that 2 – 4 sessions (approximately an hour each) be done, 4 to 6 weeks apart, and that Retinol is incorporated into this treatment to optimise results and accelerates healing.
What’s the downtime?
Expect 24 to 48 hours of downtime because it’s best to stay out of the sun and go makeup-free – the perfect excuse to stay indoors, wear your favourite pair of lockdown leggings and binge-watch that series you’ve heard is so good.
And prep for the procedure?
Preparation for the procedure includes a Tyrosinase Inhibiting serum and an SPF, which Taz advises you continue use post-procedure as well.
