This branch joins the trusted Skin Renewal clinics in Durban and Umhlanga, catering to this particular region’s patients' skin health, wellbeing, and anti-ageing needs.

Dr. Merle Williams
Dr. Merle is a general practitioner with a special interest in aesthetic and integrative medicine. She obtained her MBChB from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2005. She then completed her internship and community service in Cape Town and Kimberley before settling down in Johannesburg. She believes aesthetic medicine can be described as an art form and thinks back to her childhood dreams of being an animator for Walt Disney.
With a strong affinity for art and sketching, Dr. Merle ultimately swapped those goals: “I’ve traded putting pencil to paper for putting needle to bone,” she says. Practising out of the Skin Renewal Durban, Umhlanga, and Ballito branches, Dr. Merle completed her level one aesthetic trading with the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine (AAAM) and Integrative Medicine Bootcamp with The Golding Institute. She now happily lives in her hometown, Durban.
Dr Caitlin von Bardeleben
Dr. Caitlin is an intrepid adventurer with a creative flair and passion for photography and conservation. Originally from Johannesburg, she earned her medical degree from Wits University and is part of the Skin Renewal KwaZulu Natal team, working from the Durban, Umhlanga, and Ballito branches. After an intensive three-month in-house training with Dr. Maureen Allem, Dr. Caitlin joined the team in June 2020 and not only is a proud member of the Renewal Institute family but part of AAMSA (The Aesthetic & Anti-Ageing Medicine Society of South Africa) too.
With a passion for photography, Dr. Caitlin applies her eye for detail and creativity to her medical work. During the first half of 2020, Dr. Caitlin enjoyed a sabbatical in the South Pacific, where she had the opportunity to explore her photography skills and gain experience diving (she even dived with sharks). Currently, she has enrolled in a wildlife training programme; we look forward to learning more about wildlife preservation from her.
Acting Branch Manager, Jenna Broom
With 17 years of experience in the health and skincare industry, Jenna holds a National Diploma in Somatology. She started her career by working in spas and medical laser clinics in South Africa and the UK, gaining valuable experience and knowledge along the way. She has also been involved in training various clinics for IPL. She has an incredible passion for knowledge and education, constantly researching all treatments she finds.
Involved in advanced medical aesthetics for more than 12 years, Jenna is well versed in non-invasive therapy. Her passion is skin, helping transforming complexions, reducing pigmentation, veins, and rejuvenation. Essentially, anti-ageing is her best.
Assistant Manager, Rianca Moodley
Rianca has spent her life in her hometown of sunny Durban. Following a career path in somatology, she began her studies at Camelot International. Her first step into the working world was as front desk coordinator, where she gained a valuable four years-experience working with patients. Next, she started her journey with Skin Renewal in March 2017, satisfying her passion for helping people feel their very best.
Currently, she plays a dual role: Assistant Manager for Skin Renewal Ballito, and Distribution Centre Manager for KZN.
Nurse, Esme Pretorius
Qualifying as a registered nurse and midwife in 1988, Esmé worked at Mediclinic and Ampath for a few years and then managed her own primary healthcare clinic for over a decade. Her love for the skincare industry was born after a move to run a primary healthcare pharmacy clinic, specialising in bio-puncture and mesotherapy. While building this into a successful business, she also worked part-time at a retirement village where she managed their primary healthcare clinic and did locum work at various pharmacies. In 2017, after 10 years of practising medical skincare therapy and bio-puncture, she decided to join the Renewal Institute team. This meant her clients would receive more treatment options. Being a part of this team also provides her with different fields of interest as a practitioner.
Medical Therapist, Tasmin Leighton
A Biochemistry and Physiology major, Tasmin received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Stellenbosch and then decided to pursue a future in Somatology. After finishing top of her class at Isa Carstens Academy for her diploma in Somatology, she completed her honours in Advanced Dermal Aesthetics. She is passionate about working with people and strives for excellence to give result-driven treatments with loving (and firm) hands. She started her career working closely with Dr. Maureen Allem at the Morningside, Sandton branch, gaining incredible experience. She then decided to return home and started working at the Durban branch. Taz is always up for a challenge and decided to move to the Ballito branch, to help build up the branch and offer the best service to her clients. Taz’s favourite treatment combination is micro-needling followed by Laser Genesis™ and finishing off with a retinol overlay a rejuvenation facial like no other.
Housekeeper Thandiwe Mbata
Thandiwe resides in beautiful Ballito; she is the kindest, friendliest person you will meet. She joined us this year in August when we opened as a housekeeper. Thandiwe is a perfectionist and makes the best coffee! She has three young children and has a passion for making people feel well looked after.
