This month we are celebrating 11 years in our beautiful branch, and even though we’ve seen some ups and downs during this time, the one thing we know for sure, is that serving our valued patients continues to be our reason for being.
The team continues to ensure that our space is safe for customers and staff alike. Even though it’s by no means business as usual, our spirit remains high, and it is with much enthusiasm that we look forward to making the best of the year ahead.
Founder and medical director of Skin Renewal, Dr Maureen Allem, recently became grandmother to her daughter, Catherine’s precious baby girl, Amelia. This time gave Dr Maureen the opportunity to reflect on the special relationship she has with her own mom, Rema, who provided a tertiary education to all nine of her children, even after becoming a widow at the young age of 47. It is clear where Dr Maureen’s strength and determination stems from, and we would like to congratulate Catherine and Dr Maureen on this momentous occasion in their lives.
Skin Renewal is proudly South African and celebrated the opportunity to perform the Jerusalema dance as a show of unity. Skin Renewal employees in three provinces took part in the dance. The Irene & Brooklyn teams gathered at the Brooklyn branch where much fun and laughter was had by all as we practiced our steps and perfected the dance. Three of our Western Cape doctors, Dr Graham, Dr Dalize and Dr Chrisna were involved in the Minki Show where they participated in informative in-studio discussions in addition to transforming the lives of 7 candidates. One of our branch doctors, Dr Lestonn shared some educational information and skin tips with the top 50 finalists at the MRS SA annual Women's Breakfast and Beauty workshop held on Saturday 14 November. His experience and insight into the latest trends and good practice around holistic skin care inspired the ladies to pursue their skincare journey with reignited passion.

Giving back to the wider community lies at the core of the Skin Renewal ethos. Nationally, Skin Renewal supports three charities, and Khulisa and the Kliptown community is at the heart of the Skin Renewal Gauteng team.
Just because it wasn’t possible for the company to physically get together for this year’s CSI initiative, it was no reason to let the opportunity pass us by. All 16 branches participated in a virtual food parcel packaging effort, with each branch packing 80 parcels. Each parcel consisted of nutritious ingredients, providing a meal for four when mixed with one liter of water. On completion 5,120 beneficiaries were fed in the three different charities supported nationally.
It was a highlight for us all to visit the Kliptown community to distribute the food parcels among the adults and children. Over and above the parcels, we made sure that each child received an ice-lolly as a special treat. As always, we would like to thank our patients who share in our passion for this community and who so generously share their resources and time.
The Kliptown gogos are a group of women who have a special place in our hearts, they continue to inspire us by their creativity and while in Kliptown they shared their latest beautiful handmade craft work. We admire their passion, pride and craftmanship, and they taught us that creativity is a dance of the mind, the hands and the heart.
