This month we are celebrating our three year anniversary since the opening of our beautiful branch in the Sandton Day Hospital. We can’t believe how the time has flown, and this year specifically has been an interesting one to say the least. Though we’ve seen some ups and downs, the one thing we know for sure is that serving our valued patients is our reason for being.
The team continues to ensure that our space is safe for customers and staff alike through the application of our extensive safety precautions. Our spirit remains high and it is with much enthusiasm that we look forward to making the best of the last few weeks of a year that will go down in the history books as one to remember.
We are delighted to welcome branch manager Donné Louw to the team. Donné has been a part of the Skin Renewal family since 2012 and has filled various positions during this time at a number of Skin Renewal branches. Her valuable experience is an asset to the branch and the team.
Assisting Donné as assistant manager is Laurel Raguan, joining the team from the Illovo branch. With her many years in the beauty industry and her passion for aesthetics, Laurel has already proven to be invaluable to the team.
The team further welcomes therapist Abigail Mokoena, who has also been a part of the Skin Renewal family since 2012. Abigail has explored her administrative skills as desk assistant at the Fourways branch, but has returned to her passion which is assisting people to look and feel their best.
We are delighted to welcome Dr Megan Goble back from maternity leave. Dr Megan gave birth to a baby girl in month. Baby name is the apple of his/her mommy’s eye, and we can’t wait to meet the little one. You can book an appointment with Dr Megan on days of the week. Most of Dr Megan’s free time is spent running around after her very busy daughter, otherwise, she can be found enjoying lazy lunches with friends, visiting family down at the coast or curled up with a good book on the couch.
We would further like to congratulate Tsholo who is expecting. We are celebrating the good news with Tsholo and wish mom and baby a healthy pregnancy.
Founder and medical director of Skin Renewal, Dr Maureen Allem, recently became grandmother to her daughter, Catherine’s precious baby girl, Amelia. This time gave Dr Maureen the opportunity to reflect on the special relationship she has with her own mom, Rema, who provided a tertiary education to all nine of her children, even after becoming a widow at the young age of 47. It is clear where Dr Maureen’s strength and determination stems from, and we would like to congratulate Catherine and Dr Maureen on this momentous occasion in their lives.
In honour of Heritage Day, Skin Renewal celebrated being proudly South African by challenging each other to performing the Jerusalema dance. We hosted the Johannesburg team here, and much fun was had by all. If you haven’t yet seen the video, make sure to view it here #jerusalemadancechallenge. It is true that we are stronger when we stand together.
Next time you visit the branch be sure to have a pic with our mascot the teddy.
Our very own Dr Lilli contributed to a feature in the September issue of Fair Lady where she explained IPL and injectables, how it works, what it treats and how long it lasts. She also visited the set of SABC1’s Mzanzi Insider to give advice on acne and how to most effectively treat it.
Dr Lestonn shared some educational information and skin tips at the MRS SA annual Women's Breakfast and Beauty workshop held 18 October 2020. His experience and insight into the latest trends and good practice around holistic skin care inspired the ladies to approach the maintenance of their own skin with more consideration.
Three of our Western Cape doctors, Dr Graham, Dr Dalize and Dr Chrisna were involved in the Minki Show where they participated in informative in-studio discussions and transformed the lives of 7 participants on-screen. Make sure to catch them on VIA (DSTV 147) every Wednesday night at 19:30.

It has been a pleasure to welcome the highly regarded hair stylist, David Gillson of Carlton Hair to our branch. David consulted with Dr Maureen on how to look after his skin best and has shared his experiences with his followers. Be sure to follow his journey his profile is @gillsondavid.
It is also always a pleasure to welcome celebrity chef Chef Nti (Nthabiseng’s) to the branch whom we are proud to assist in getting her body summer-ready. We have always admired Nthabiseng’s zest for life and would like to congratulate her on her 2020 achievements as 2020’s culinary media personality of the year and with her Taste Kitchen the African Restaurant of the year.
We highly recommend MD Lash Factor as a must have for every woman. This award-winning, physician-formulated product is developed to condition eyelashes and eyebrows to improve the appearance of length, fullness and thickness. This products as well as a range of skin, health and body products are available at the branch, or can be ordered on Skin Renewal’s online store.
Giving back to the wider community is at the core of the Skin Renewal ethos. Nationally, Skin Renewal supports three charities, and Khulisa and the Kliptown community is at the heart of the Skin Renewal Gauteng team.
Just because it wasn’t possible for the company to physically get together for this year’s CSI initiative, it was no reason to let the opportunity pass us by. All 16 branches participated in a virtual food parcel packaging effort, with each branch packing 80 parcels. Each parcel consisted of nutritious ingredients, providing a meal for four when mixed with one liter of water. On completion 5,120 beneficiaries were fed in the three different charities supported nationally.
It was a highlight for us to visit Kliptown with the rest of our Gauteng colleagues to distribute the food parcels to the community that we have so dearly missed.
We would like to thank our patients who share in our passion for this community and who so generously share their resources and time. Should you wish to still get involved this year, be sure to pop in to buy a beautifully presented bottle of Christmas cookies which will go towards ensuring a happy festive season for the community. For more information on the charities that we support and the work we do, follow our dedicated charity Skin Renewal Facebook page - Renewed Hope ZA.

The Morningside team
