From a brand new face in-branch and a scroll through the camera rolls of our familiar faces out and about to our therapists’ favourite go-to treatments at the moment, we’re excited to share our news with you. Born and raised in Bloemfontein, Joy finished Matric in 2007, where she studied Psychology and Criminology (B soc Sc) at the University of the Free State for three years.
“In my third year,” she says, “I realised that humanities was not my passion and decided to change direction. I decided to study Somatology at the Central University of Technology. I worked as a freelance therapist at De Oude Kraal Country Estate & Spa in Bloemfontein. During my first year and after obtaining my diploma and Cidesco certification, I started my career in the beauty industry as a Spa Therapist.”
Joy’s passion for skin led her to Dermalogica where she began as a therapist and worked her way up into the role of managing various concept stores where her love and passion for the industry continued to grow and evolve, leading her – in October 2021 – to Skin Renewal and now to her new home within the Skin Renewal Group, our beautiful Parkhurst branch.
Asked what she is looking forward to most in her role as Parkhurst’s Co-Leader, Joy says, “continuing to make a meaningful difference in the lives I touch through my work.”
Branch Leader Sharon van Drünick, her husband Marlo and son Marlo-Juan recently travelled abroad to the Philippines for a family wedding. And we think that the view in this selfie they snapped together is as beautiful as Sharon’s perspective on the trip – and on life – “The love of a family is life’s greatest blessing.”
The greatest gift we can give each other is not presents but rather presence. Our beautiful Clara – and how she spent her recent, well-deserved time off – reflects this. We think the look of contentment and pure happiness on her face in this pic, taken as she spent quality time with her husband Farai and their son and daughter-in -law, says it all.
At the beginning of January, Therapist Kelly enjoyed some special – and picturesque – R&R in the Midlands with her hubby Rudolph and son Greyson. How did traveling with the little one go? We love how Kelly puts it: “Having kids is a reason to travel not a reason to stop.”
Over December, Nospho went back home to visit family and catch up with some of her nearest and dearest who she hadn’t seen in a long time. Reflecting on the trip, she says, “Families are like branches on a tree. We grow in different directions, yet our roots remain as one.”
This beautiful family – Therapist Beverley, her husband Jim and sons Samuel and Joshua – recently enjoyed a getaway to Stilbaai in the Cape. We love the lens through which Beverley sees family adventures: “Travelling in the company of those we love is home in motion.”
Therapist Marisa Houston and her husband recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary while making the most of their “out of office” time with their son, Kyle.
As a team, we’d like to extend our heartfelt “Congratulations!” to this extraordinary couple. What a wonderful milestone, which Marisa sums up so well as her recipe for a happy marriage:

New beginnings, new blessings. David and his wife Portia recently baptised their beautiful little girl, Kalirendwe, in the presence of their close-knit family. We have to mention how smart this loving, committed family looked on the day!
