"H" Is For Hydration (and Healthy Skin)

Do you think hydration is the same as moisture? Think again. If skincare were a movie, hydration would be the leading lady, and moisturising would be the supporting actress.

Simply put, moisturising helps retain the skin's moisture, but hydration adds water. Better hydration equals better texture, creating a smoother, softer, and more youthful overall appearance. To use another movie reference, “I’ll have what she’s having!”

Fun fact: Dehydrated skin can be dry or oily, depending on whether it is prone to under- or over-compensating. While drinking at least eight glasses of water a day (and eating water-rich foods like fruit and veg) can help swap some of that dehydration for hydration, good old H2O alone isn’t enough to get your skin living its best soft/supple/elasticated life.

Why Hydration is THAT Girl (and Guy)

Proper hydration prevents premature ageing as water is needed for skin cells to bring their A-game. When your skin is adequately hydrated, new skin cells are quickly produced, and waste products (including dead skin cells) are efficiently removed from the body. In a nutshell, better cell turnover means better skin. It’s like pressing the pause button on premature ageing, too. Bonus!

So, What Should You Add to the Cart?

Hyaluronic Acid

Regarding this hydration must-have, we have two favourite children in our product range – the Lamelle Corrective HA Plus Serum and SkinCeuticals H.A. Intensifier Serum. These exceptional, innovative serums contain high concentrations of Hyaluronic Acid (HA), a powerful natural humectant that plays an important role in maintaining your skin’s biomechanical properties. HA is a must-have for regulating moisture levels while softening fine lines and wrinkles and tackling volume loss.

Vitamin B5

Once you know you need HA, you may want to consider inviting Vitamin B5 to the Operation Hydration party because HA and B5 work together like strawberries and cream or the words “shoe” and “sale”. The SkinCeuticals B5 Hydrating Gel is an oil-free hydrating serum designed to replenish moisture and restore radiance, leaving the skin feeling supple and smooth while enhancing the benefits of a daily moisturiser. The integration of vitamin B5 with Hyaluronic Acid in this easily absorbed product makes its benefits multi-faceted – from delivering optimal hydration without clogging pores to achieving a radiant glow to even the dullest skin types.

A Beauty Sleep Boost

The Endocare Expert Drops Hydrating Protocol offers a meticulously designed day and night product system with a daily hydrating serum (morning) and a soft peel (night) for comprehensive, long-lasting hydration.

  • The HA-rich daytime hydrating serum offers intense hydration and works as a moisturising filler. It also includes Edafence®, a potent ingredient that strengthens the skin barrier and protects against environmental aggressors.
  • For use at night, the Soft Peel Serum is packed with Retinol and other active ingredients. It delivers double enzymatic and chemical exfoliation, improving skin texture and reducing lines and wrinkles while sleeping.

And How About Add-to-Diary?

Regular treatments are key to achieving your skin goals, particularly if you have a specific concern, like hydration or lack thereof. And, because “I hate something that multi-tasks,” said no one ever, consider booking yourself a Transdermal Mesotherapy session (or two).

Transdermal Mesotherapy is a cutting-edge, needle-free treatment that delivers active ingredients deep into the skin using FDA-approved Dermo-electroporation® technology. This revolutionary approach offers all the benefits of traditional mesotherapy—targeting dehydration, pigmentation, anti-ageing, and skin rejuvenation—without the discomfort and downtime associated with needles.

As always, if you have any questions about the products or treatments highlighted in this article, contact us or chat with your Skin Renewal therapist or doctor.
