‘Every child needs a champion’ - Hillary Rodham Clinton
Since the inception of Skin Renewal KZN in 2013, this will be the first social initiative that our team supports. As a company, Skin Renewal and all its employees dedicate one day a year to select an organisation as part of our corporate social investment. In November, we will dedicate a day to the Durban Child and Youth Care Centre by getting involved in the home that houses the youngest occupants, ranging from 2-12 years old.
As mentioned, the charity selected this year is the Durban Child and Youth Care Centre (DCYCC). Established in 1905 the organisation has evolved over the years and currently offers a range of relevant programmes which respond to the needs of children and youth as required by the Children’s Act.
The DCYCC currently have the responsibility of meeting the day-to-day needs of 82 children and young people who live in our children’s home and rehabilitation centre. In addition we offer support to approximately 1 100 children and youth in child headed and vulnerable households through our Isibindi Outreach project.
The organisation is currently faced with cash flow constraints due to the ever widening gap between subsidised funding from the Department of Social Development and actual running costs.
You can help us help them in any of the following ways. A collection basket will be placed in either KZN branches and the following can be sponsored:
- Children’s reading books
- Colouring in books
- Crayons, Pencils, Paint, paint brushes
- Old toys in a good condition
- New or old plastic motor cycles, and bicycles
- Children’s clothing ranging from 2-12 years
- Building blocks, plastic or wooden
