They say blondes have more fun, and a dark-haired friend of mine went blonde for about a year to prove or disprove this theory and decided that yes, it was true. More pick-ups, more flirting and more partying! Perhaps being blonde changed her attitude, and it wasn’t the blonde hair?
Whatever your hair colour, natural or otherwise, the amount of fun you have (or not) cannot seriously depend on the colour of your hair or skin! Besides, genuine blondes have an additional problem, because a fair skin means that you really have to be careful out in the sun. Fortunately we are moving towards winter and for a few months it is not a major problem, but fair skin is more prone to skin damage, earlier wrinkling and pigmentation.
Sun-damaged skin
Damage to the skin can become visible from as early as people in their twenties, especially if a lot of their time is spent outside and without adequate sun protection. After the age of 35 there is a sharp increase in skin changes such as pigmented spots and visible skin damage, fine wrinkles, spider veins, age spots and freckles. For these reasons it is wise to protect the skin at all times as even a few minutes of exposure every day over the years can cause skin damage.
With age the outer layer of the skin begins to thin, causing the junction with the underlying layer to flatten. There is increase water loss from the skin and a decrease of the sebaceous glands that provides natural moisture and oil to the skin. The ultraviolet light from the sun breaks down collagen and impairs the production of new collagen, and ageing skin produces less new collagen which cumulatively leads to visible signs of ageing. Fair skinned people tend to develop more signs of sun damage than darker skinned people, hence the reason for them to be more careful.
Pearl™ Treatment
Pearl offers effective treatment to address fine lines, uneven texture and discolouration and the effect is visible after only one treatment. It is a minimally invasive procedure that treats these problems and helps the body to replace crepe-like skin with plumper more youthful looking skin.
In contrast to other more aggressive laser peels such as Erbium Laser Peels and Sciton Profractional laser peels, the ‘social’ downtime with Pearl Laser treatment is only about 4-5 days. With Pearl treatment the entire face or only specific areas can be treated. These areas are: •The eye area, including the top lid for a non-surgical eye rejuvenation •Mouth area which treats wrinkles accumulated over time from repetitive habits such as smoking or chewing gum •Cheek wrinkles •Forehead
The treatment takes about 20 minutes to administer as a result of the revolutionary scanning device, and during this procedure, the top layer of skin is treated with light pulses in a pre-selected pattern while at the same time the laser send heat to the deeper layers of skin to provide longer term benefits. The feeling after treatment is that of having sunburn, but only lasts for a day or so. By day 3-4 the skin will peel or slough off, revealing a new you. Looking younger, fresher and all that without cosmetic surgery!
Start Early and Reap Benefits later
If we can remove some of the skin at an earlier age and stimulate the growth of new collagen, we might actually slow down the ageing process significantly, allowing us to have healthier, better looking skin later in life. Perhaps even more promising is the idea that treating skin with lasers earlier on in the ageing process - at around age 30-40 it may actually slow or prevent the skin from breaking down and appearing wrinkled and saggy later on in life.
Pearl treatment offers safe, predictable and immediate results with minimal discomfort and a few days downtime. Good sun protection must be worn daily for at least 6 weeks afterwards. Blondes can now be assured of an excellent treatment to take care of the sun damage that they experience more often than their darker counterparts.
